Mahammad Mehdiyev

Research Fellow

Mahammad Mehdiyev is a Research Fellow at Topchubashov Center and a Master's student in International Relations at the University of Milan, specialising in International Security and Regional Dynamics. His work at Topchubashov Center has focused on the Karabakh conflict, Iran, and the war in Ukraine. He is also a Research Track Fellow with the Caucasus Edition, where he conducts policy research on post-conflict dynamics in the South Caucasus.

Mahammad's research interests include the politics and history of the post-Soviet space, particularly the South Caucasus, alongside conflict and statehood dynamics and digital mapping. He also produces original cartographic visualisations to support and communicate his research. In addition to his native Azerbaijani, he speaks Turkish, Russian, and English fluently, and has a working knowledge of Italian.
